The story goes that in the community of San Nicolás, an Otomi woman captured the inspiration of the animals, landscape and plants around her on a canvas with colored threads — beginning what is recognized today as the embroidery tradition, Tenangos. Each piece takes 70 hours to make, and is pinned and float mounted over a flax backer to highlight each intricate detail. Framed in Austin, Texas.
